New Artwork & My Press!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey everyone, so it's been almost 2 years since I posted anything so I'm trying to start this up again. I took a trip to Costa Rica in February for my cousin's wedding and these paintings were inspired by the local nature in Manuel Antonio. I also bought a press at an estate sale this summer and haven't broken it in yet since I just moved to Sioux Falls, SD a month ago. I will let you know how the press works once I find time to try it out!

October
Wow I have not posted since May! I can't believe that. Well I just wanted to put a quick post up. This semester I am working on a multi-plate for the first time and trying to work out the kinks in that right now. Once I get them worked out I will post an image of my print. I am continuing to work in Lithography. My first print from the semester is also about No child left behind and how it causes budget cuts in art and forces art teachers out of schools because of lack of funding. I will try to get an image up of this print soon. I will be printing it in red soon. I am planning on working more in color with lithography and maybe do a multi-stone.

Online Exhibition
Pollution Series: Deformed Frogs Lithograph
Pollution Series: Factory Lithograph
Pollution Series: Oil Spill Lithograph Pollution Series: Oil Spill 2 Lithograph
I am doing a series on pollution and here are four of my prints from the series. The first is a scene of deformed frogs that became that way from chemicals that humans let into the environment. The second is a factory emitting smoke into the air polluting the air that we breathe. The third is an oil spill with two birds full of oil and dead fish in the water to show how our actions hurt the environment. The fourth is the same image as the second transfered back onto my stone and then I drew over the transfer with a wet crayon to make the water look more like an oil spill.
I would have to say that Kim Berman has inspired me the most this semester content wise but Sue Coe has inspired me in lithographic printing techniques. I think the social art centered blog was a great idea for this semester and I think it has helped me develop my ideas for my series and opened my eyes to how I can make a difference through my artwork.
